Dear Homeschooling Parents,
Five years ago, when my eldest child embarked on her high school journey, I found myself solely responsible for all aspects of high school planning, college admissions, and career preparation and guidance. The scarcity of available assistance took me by surprise. I managed to find a handful of books designed for homeschoolers to aid with high school courses and transcripts. However, one popular book, brimming with forms, was quite large and rather perplexing. I also discovered a few career assessments tailored for Christians, but their steep price ($90.00 or above) was beyond my budget. A comprehensive guide offering explanations and guidance for high school and college testing, or CLEP and AP exams, remained elusive. Due to the dearth of information available for homeschoolers, I made a significant error in adequately preparing my child for the PSAT.
In short, I navigated the high school years, prepared transcripts, and sent my child off to college, all the while uncertain about the field of study she should or would pursue. This experience made me realize that I didn’t want my friends and fellow homeschoolers to face the same challenges I encountered in preparing my child for life after high school.
